Oxford Town Hall & Isis Farm House
When Kevin and Colette first got in touch, they were living in Ecuador. Initially we web-cammed and got to know each other through Skype, which was a first for me, but worked just as well as any other of my introductory meets. They talked through their plans for the day and I was rather excited to be part of it.
This was the first time I had been asked to photograph a wedding at Oxford Town Hall. What a wonderful building of handsome oak beams and grand gilt architecture. A perfect setting for the Registrar to deliver a warm and relaxed civil ceremony to a love-filled room.
From there an excitable congregation boarded rickshaws for their short journey from the Town Hall, alongside dreaming spires, and onto the Head of the River where their boat awaited. Once the party was on the boat, we set off along the scenic Thames, passing the University boathouses and gently heading along to the Isis Farmhouse pub.
There at the Isis the day really got into full swing. The wedding breakfast was served at the boat house and celebrations followed in a relaxed festival style with friends and family members getting up to sing and play guitar.
